Death toll in Karur tragedy rises to 41; Intelligence report says precautions were not taken despite crowding

The death toll in the Karur mob tragedy has risen to 41. Around 111 people are injured and undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, an intelligence report has come out listing the lapses in the tragedy. The report says that the police failed to allocate space and that precautions were not taken despite crowding by 10 am. The intelligence report says that there was nothing to deal with the emergency.

Although permission was sought for ten thousand people, the intelligence report also says that there was a lapse in taking necessary precautions considering the nature of TVK rallies. There were around 45,000 people in Veluchamipuram alone. More than 15,000 people were waiting for Vijay near the flyover. When Vijay arrived, they also moved with him. Veluchamipuram could not accommodate these people. There were no alternative plans to control the crowd if it arose. The TVK arrangements were not sufficient to control the people.

When the crowd grew, the coordination that was in place for control was broken. The necessary system for warning was also missing. The TVK leaders were unable to control the people who came. The police also had to stand by helplessly. The intelligence report also says that there was nothing to deal with the emergency situation.
