'Action will be taken against you'; Ajit Pawar threatens Malayali IPS officer who stopped illegal mining

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar threatened a Malayali IPS officer over the phone while stopping illegal mining. Ajit Pawar threatened Malayali IPS officer V.S. Anjana Krishna, who had come to stop illegal mining in Solapur, over the phone. The incident has become a big controversy after it came to light.
The incident became a controversy after a video of Ajit Pawar talking to the IPS officer on the phone was released. With this, opposition parties have also come forward demanding Ajit Pawar's resignation.
In the video that came out, Ajit Pawar spoke to the IPS officer on the phone of an NCP worker. He is saying that the proceedings should be stopped and that the Deputy Chief Minister is speaking. But the IPS officer could not recognize Ajit Pawar's voice.
Therefore, they had also asked Ajit Pawar to call his number. The angry Deputy Chief Minister told the officer, "I will take action against you." Ajit Pawar is also seen asking, "You want to see me, right? Give me your number, or call me on WhatsApp. Then you will understand my face. How dare you talk like this?" The footage also shows Ajit Pawar asking. After this, Ajit Pawar made a video call to the officer and reportedly asked them to stop the proceedings.
The NCP has defended Ajit Pawar in the controversy over the threat against him. Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena Uddhav faction has come forward demanding Ajit Pawar's resignation. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that Ajit Pawar has no moral right to continue as Deputy Chief Minister on the allegation that he threatened an IPS officer. He also alleged that Ajit Pawar has turned Maharashtra into a state of thieves.\
However, NCP leader Sunil Thackeray and BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bhawankule have come forward in support of Ajit Pawar. Sunil Thackeray said that he was not threatening, but that was his normal way of speaking. "He used to talk to us in the same tone. Those officials are doing their job. They are not being blamed. In a democracy, people will voice their grievances. That is what Ajit Pawar was talking to the officials," he explained.
Anjana Krishna, a native of Malayinkeezhu in Thiruvananthapuram, is working as a DSP in Karmala, Maharashtra. She passed the civil services in 2022.
