Security forces kill 3 Maoists in Chhattisgarh; Leader with Rs 5 crore bounty on his head among those killed

A Maoist leader carrying a bounty of Rs 25 crore on his head was killed in an encounter between security forces and Maoists in Chhattisgarh. The encounter took place in a forest area on the border of Dantewada-Bijapur districts in Chhattisgarh. Three Maoists were killed by security forces.

A few days ago, 30 Maoists were killed in an encounter in Bijapur district by security forces. 26 Maoists were also killed in an encounter in the forest area on the Bijapur-Dantewada border. One of the three killed in the latest encounter is Sudheer alias Sudhakar, a Maoist leader carrying a bounty of Rs 25 crore on his head.

Sudhakar has been a target of the forces for years. A native of Telangana, he has led many attacks centered in Chhattisgarh. The other two Maoists who were killed have not yet been identified. Security forces have said that a large cache of weapons has been seized from them.
