Bihar Assembly Elections; 13% polling in first phase, candidates including Tejashwi Yadav cast their votes
13% polling was recorded in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections. Candidates including India Alliance Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav cast their votes. Voting is underway in 121 of the 243 assembly constituencies in Bihar, where a triangular contest is taking place, in the first phase of polling today. Voting is being held for 121 seats in 8 districts.
Voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm. 1314 candidates are in the fray seeking the support of 3.75 crore voters. 3.75 crore voters will cast their votes. Candidates including India Alliance Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav are seeking the mandate today. Tejashwi Yadav has currently cast his vote.
Voting is also taking place in Harnaut constituency, which is Nitish Kumar's hometown. This is the constituency where Nitish Kumar won the assembly for the first time. The seats of the Bharatiya Janata Party's chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav and deputy chief ministers Vijay Sinha and Samrat Chaudhary are the focus of the first phase.
The Bharatiya Janata Party had won 60 of these seats last time. The NDA had won 59 seats last time. Two seats were also won by others. Therefore, maintaining the lead it had last time is very crucial for the RJD, which is trying to return to power in Bihar after 20 years.
