DMK leader Anbil Mahesh arrested by Chennai Police in connection with a ₹100 crore bribery case.
Anbil Mahesh, a former School Education Minister of Tamil Nadu and a DMK leader, has been arrested in a case involving a bribe of ₹100 crore. The arrest was carried out by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Chennai Police. Earlier in the day, the Madras High Court had rejected his anticipatory bail plea. Following this, he was taken into custody from his apartment in Chennai and brought to the City Police Commissioner's office. The case alleges that bribes were collected from the managements of nearly 200 schools through two DMK leaders, including a former MLA. Mahesh, who served as a minister in the Stalin-led cabinet, is a close associate of Udhayanidhi Stalin. Meanwhile, TVK leader Rajmohan has demanded that Stalin should quit politics.
