Suresh Gopi’s JSK Set for Release on July 17 with New Title ‘Janaki V. V/S State of Kerala’ After Censor Board Edits
Suresh Gopi’s JSK, now titled Janaki V V/S State of Kerala, hits theatres on July 17 after censor board edits. Anupama Parameswaran returns to Malayalam. Suresh Gopi’s highly anticipated Malayalam film ‘JSK’, officially retitled ‘Janaki V V/S State of Kerala’, will release on July 17 after receiving a U/A 16 certification from the Censor Board (CBFC). The title was changed and dialogues muted following censorship guidelines. The film marks Anupama Parameswaran’s comeback to Malayalam cinema and features Madhav Suresh Gopi, Divya Pillai, and Sruthi Ramachandran in key roles. Directed by Praveen Narayanan, the movie is expected to appeal to both family audiences and youth, blending courtroom drama with mass appeal.

After the controversy over the name Janaki, Suresh Gopi's film 'JSK' will hit the theatres on the 17th of this month and will be released under the title 'Janaki V. V/S State of Kerala'. Changes were made to the film as per the instructions of the Censor Board. JSK is reaching the audience with a U/A 16 certificate after completing the censoring process.
The Censor Board had suggested that 'Janaki' in the title of the film be changed to 'Janaki V.'. In addition, the name 'Janaki' has been omitted in seven places in the two and a half minute section of the 15-minute dialogue before the interval. Meanwhile, the JSK censorship case will be considered again by the High Court on Wednesday. Director Praveen Narayanan said that only by watching it can we know how much the muted parts will affect the film.
'JSK' also has the distinction of being a film starring Suresh Gopi's son Madhav. The motion poster, teaser and songs of the film, which were already out, have received good reviews. The audience who watched the teaser said that the film will be a mass play by Suresh Gopi and that the film will be able to influence both the family audience and the youth audience.
The film also has the distinction of being Anupama Parameswaran's return to Malayalam after a long gap. Anupama Parameswaran, who became a favorite of Malayalis with the film Premam, later became famous throughout South India with her leading roles in Tamil and Telugu films. Although she did a few Malayalam films after Premam, the actress is returning with a very strong character through JSK after a long gap.
Apart from Anupama, Divya Pillai and Sruthi Ramachandran are also playing the leading roles in the film. Other stars include Askar Ali, Madhav Suresh Gopi, Baiju Santhosh, Jayan Cherthala, Joy Mathew, Abhilash Raveendran, Rejith Menon, Nistar Seth, Ratheesh Krishnan, Shafir Khan, Manjushri Nair, Jai Vishnu, Vaishnavi Raj, Medha Pallavi, Kottayam Ramesh, Dileep, and Balaji Sharma.
