6-year-old Malayali girl racially abused in Ireland; Cycle hit in private parts, obscene language used

A six-year-old Indian-origin girl was racially abused in Ireland. The incident took place in Waterford. Five boys, aged between twelve and fourteen, racially abused the child. The Malayali girl was playing when the teenagers attacked her. The attack was on the daughter of a couple from Kottayam.

The boys shouted that Indians were dirty and told her to go back to their country. It is alleged that they hit the child in the private parts and face and pulled her hair. The child's mother is a nurse in Ireland. They have been living here for the past eight years. It is reported that this is the first time that a child of Indian origin has faced such racial abuse in Ireland.

The incident took place on the evening of August 4. The child who faced racial abuse was playing outside the house with other children. At this time, the child's mother was outside the house watching the child. Meanwhile, their ten-month-old baby was crying and they went inside to feed the baby. After a while, the girl came inside the house and cried without saying anything. When the child's friend was asked, she told about the abuse she faced from the boys.

The child's mother Anupa Achuthan said that the friend of the child said that about five people had abused the child. They arrived on a bicycle and first hit the child's private parts. Then the children used obscene words and said that Indians are dirty. They also told her to go back to the country. They also hit her daughter's neck. They grabbed her hair and pulled her. The mother says that her daughter was completely devastated after the incident and is now afraid to go out and play.
