Amit Shah Fake Video Case: Delhi Police Summons Revanth Reddy, Telangana CM Says 'We Are Not Afraid'

Delhi Police summoned Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in connection with the doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, sources said on Monday.

Reddy, who is also the Congress’ Telangana unit president, has been asked to appear before Delhi Police’s IFSO (Cyber unit) in the national capital on May 1. He has also been asked to submit his electronic gadgets/phone for investigation.

The Telangana CM has been asked to appear with his mobile phone, which was allegedly used for posting the tailored video on the microblogging site X.

Reacting to the summons, Reddy said, “Just got news that Delhi Police have arrived at Gandhi Bhavan and issued notices to social media team. They are even trying to arrest me.”

“Apart from ED, CBI, IT, Modi is now using Delhi Police, but we are not afraid,” the Telangana CM claimed.

The development comes after the Delhi Police registered a case on Sunday based on a complaint by the Home Affairs Ministry in connection with the fake video, which falsely suggested his stance on reservations.

Earlier in the day, the Delhi Police had served a notice to Reddy in connection with Shah’s fake video, asked him to respond by May 1. However, the Karnataka Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has denied of receiving any notice.

Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Sunday informed that it has taken action against individuals responsible for circulating a doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, falsely suggesting his stance on reservations.

The FIR targets certain handles on social media platforms, which edited Shah’s statements to falsely suggest that the minister argued for ending reservations in the country. This action came a day after BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya said that the Telangana Congress wing was spreading an edited video of Shah, “which is completely fake and has the potential to cause large-scale violence.
