Can LMV license holders drive autorickshaw? Supreme Court with important judgment statement
Supreme Court said that badge license is not required to drive autorickshaw in the country. The Supreme Court was passing judgment on the petition filed by the insurance companies. The Supreme Court also clarified that those who have LMV license can drive a vehicle weighing up to 7,500 kg.
The decision was taken by a constitution bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justices Hrishikesh Roy, PS Narasimha, Pankaj Mittal and Manoj Mishra. The Supreme Court upheld the amendment in this regard. With this, LMV license holders in the country can drive transport vehicles of less than 7500 kg, including autorickshaws
The court stated that there is no evidence in the petitions filed by the insurance companies. The argument of the insurance companies in the petition was that the accidents were caused by the LMV license holders driving the transport vehicles.
