Encounter with terrorists in Uri after Pahalgam terror attack; Indian Army kills two

While the country was shaken by the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, the army foiled an infiltration bid by terrorists in Baramulla. The Indian army killed two terrorists and seized several weapons. The encounter is still ongoing. The Pakistani army opened fire on the Line of Control in the Mendar sector of Poonch district. Official sources said that the firing started without provocation and continued for some time.

Indications are now emerging that the mastermind of the Pahalgam terrorist attack that shocked the entire country is Lashkar leader Saifullah Kasuri. Security agencies are assessing that the attack in Baisaran Valley was planned by Lashkar-ISI. The role of Lashkar-e-Taiba has been officially confirmed.

It is reported that the terrorists arrived on two bikes. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister, who returned from Saudi Arabia, held an emergency meeting at the airport. He met with S Jaishankar, Ajit Doval and Vikram Misri. A high-level meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi had also expressed concern over the Pahalgam terror attack. In a post shared on X, Rahul Gandhi said that he had spoken to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Jammu and Kashmir PCC President Tariq Karra and reviewed the situation.
