Hartal Damages: High Court to collect Rs 3.94 crore by selling Popular Front's properties

The High Court has ordered that the damage caused by the lightning strike by the Popular Front should be recovered by selling the organization's properties. The order is to collect Rs 3,94,97,000. The Division Bench also informed that the amount can be recovered by selling the properties of the national, state and local office bearers of the Popular Front. The High Court has also ordered that the amount determined by the Claims Commissioner should be paid to those who have suffered losses.

Meanwhile, the report states that Rs 2.40 crore should be paid as compensation to KSRTC in connection with the lightning strike by the Popular Front. This amount is to compensate for the loss due to disruption of services. This amount should be recovered from the Popular Front leaders. The Claims Commissioner submitted the report to the High Court. The lightning strike by the Popular Front took place on September 23, 2022.

The average income of KSRTC for the seven days before the strike was Rs 5,88,48,829. The income on the hartal day is Rs 2,13,21,983. The profit on diesel due to the disruption of services is Rs 1,22,60,309. Other claims – Rs 10,08,160. The actual loss is Rs 2,42,58,376.
