Houthis attack Saudi international airport; one killed, eight injured, France and Britain support Saudi

Houthis attacked King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. An expatriate was killed and eight others were injured in the attack. The Saudi General Authority for Civil Aviation released information about the attack on the plane. The injured were immediately admitted to nearby hospitals. Some of them are reported to be seriously injured. The US State Department has instructed diplomatic officials and their families in Saudi Arabia to evacuate due to security threats. The flights have been turned back following the attack.

The attack comes as tensions between the Houthi rebels in Yemen and the Saudi-backed government are intensifying. Meanwhile, France and Britain have come forward to support Saudi Arabia in combating the Houthi attack. In recent days, the Houthis have also attacked the Shaiba oil field in Saudi Arabia. Two expatriates were killed when drone debris fell on them. The dead were from the Philippines and Nepal. Two people, including an Indian, were injured.

Shaybah is an oil field owned by Saudi Aramco in southeastern Saudi Arabia. The oil field is located close to the UAE border. The Saudi Ministry of Energy confirmed that the drone attack targeted the Shaybah oil field. The ministry said that two people were killed and one Indian and one Pakistani were injured when the drone debris fell on them. There are also reports that a vehicle caught fire when the drone debris fell on it. There have also been recent attacks on other airports.
