Iran to deport Afghan migrants en masse. Iran is deporting Afghan migrants after accusing them of supporting Israeli airstrikes. More than a million people have reportedly returned to Afghanistan since June 1.
The United Nations estimates that 627,000 of these people were forcibly deported. Iranian media reported that several Afghans were arrested on suspicion of espionage and that manuals for making bombs and drones were found in their possession.
The displacement is causing widespread concern among humanitarian organizations, as it will severely impact the lives of the Afghan people, who are already suffering from poverty, sanctions, and decades of war.
