Microsoft to end operations in Pakistan, which has been in existence for a quarter of a century. Microsoft started its operations in Pakistan in 2000. Jawwad Rehman, the founding head of Microsoft in Pakistan, announced this through his LinkedIn post.
Rehman also stated that he has requested the IT Minister and the Pakistani government to discuss with the company's global regional leadership to maintain Microsoft's services in Pakistan. No official information has been released from Microsoft's side in this regard yet.
The company had already reduced the number of employees significantly. Reports are emerging that it has now decided to withdraw completely. National media reported that this move has raised serious concerns in the business tech sector in Pakistan.
Experts say that the move by Microsoft will hinder other tech companies from expanding their operations or investing in Pakistan. However, the IT Ministry has clarified that the news coming out is fake.
