Myanmar Earthquake: A massive earthquake shook Myanmar; 7.7 magnitude; multi-storey buildings collapsed; State of emergency declared in Bangkok

A very strong earthquake struck Myanmar. A 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar at 12.50 pm today. There are reports that another earthquake measuring 6.4 magnitude followed. The epicenter of the earthquake is reported to be about 50 km east of the city of Monywa in central Myanmar. With a population of 1.5 million, this place is the second most populated place in Myanmar. Exact information about the damage has not been released.

There was also an earthquake in Thailand. Metro and rail services were suspended in Bangkok and China's Yunnan province. Thai Prime Minister Payatungthan Shinawatra called an emergency meeting to review the situation. A state of emergency has been declared in Bangkok. Shocking video of the earthquake has been released. Footage of a multi-storey building under construction collapsing and houses and other things collapsing has been released. People are also seen screaming and running in the footage.

Metro and rail services were suspended in Bangkok. AFP reported that 43 workers were trapped after a skyscraper under construction collapsed in Bangkok. Tremors of the major earthquakes in Myanmar were also felt in India. The earthquake struck the East Garo Hills of Meghalaya.
