Putin thanks world leaders Trump and Modi for intervention in Ukraine issue

Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chinese President, the Brazilian President, and the South African President for their efforts to bring peace to the three-year-old Russia-Ukraine war. Putin's response came after he announced that he accepted in principle the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine.
"I would like to start by thanking US President Mr. Trump for paying so much attention to resolving the Ukraine issue. I would like to thank all the world leaders who have intervened in this matter, including the Chinese President, the Indian Prime Minister, the Brazilian President, and the South African President. All this is with the great goal of ending hostilities and preventing human casualties," Putin said.
At the same time, Putin shared concerns that Ukraine would use the 30-day ceasefire to strengthen its military. Putin added that the root causes that led to the war must be addressed and some changes to the terms of the ceasefire will be necessary.
The terms of the agreement need to be examined. The agreement should pave the way for long-term peace. Putin also said that more talks are needed with the American delegation. A mechanism is needed to ensure that the ceasefire agreement is not violated. Putin clarified that peacekeeping forces from NATO countries will not be accepted during the ceasefire period.
