'Retro' becomes a hit on the first day; followed by 'Raid 2' and Nani's 'Hit 3', opening day collection report

Suriya's film 'Retro' and Bollywood film 'Raid 2' have made huge gains among the films that hit the theatres on May 1. The collection reports of the films have been released. Retro, which became a huge hit in Tamil Nadu, received a lukewarm response, including in Kerala. However, the film earned Rs 19.25 crore from the box office on its first day.

This is Suriya's film that has the highest opening day collection after 'Kanguva'. Kanguva's first day collection was Rs 22 crore. Suriya played the role of a gangster named Parivel in the film directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Pooja Hegde is the heroine. Stars like Joju George, Swasika, Jayaram, and Nassar also play roles in the film.

Ajay Devgn's film 'Raid 2' also collected Rs 19.25 crore on its first day at the box office. However, Raid 2 is far behind the opening day collections of films like Singam Again, Singam Returns and Golmaal Again. Raid 2 is the sequel to the super hit film 'Raid' released in 2018.

After Retro and Raid 2, Nani's film 'Hit 3' has made a big profit at the Indian box office. The film earned Rs 18 crore on its first day at the box office. Directed by Shailesh Kolanu, the film was released with the title Hit: The Third Case. Srinidhi Shetty played the female lead in the film.

Sasikumar-Simran's film 'Tourist Family' earned Rs 2.35 crore at the box office on its opening day. The film was directed by Abhishan Jeevinth. Sanjay Dutt-Mouni Roy's film 'The Bhootni' earned just Rs 65 lakh at the box office on its first day.
