Two Terrorists Killed in Jammu: Army foils infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir; Two terrorists killed, search continues

Indian Army on Thursday gunned down two terrorists who tried to infiltrate across the Line of Control in Gurez sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district.

The encounter took place near Nowshera Nar as part of Operation Nowshera Nar IV, where the army caught a group of infiltrators who were trying to enter Indian territory on alert. A brief exchange of fire took place, resulting in the elimination of two terrorists.

At first light, the Indian Army launched a massive search operation in the area to ensure that there were no more infiltrators. The bodies of the slain terrorists were recovered during the search.

Following the encounter, a search operation was launched in the surrounding area to rule out the presence of more infiltrators or any suspicious activity.

"Based on intelligence inputs from JKP about an infiltration bid, the Indian Army and @JmuKmrPolice launched a joint operation in Gurez sector. The alert soldiers challenged them after spotting suspicious activity, which led to indiscriminate firing by the militants. The troops responded effectively, neutralising two militants. Operation in progress," an update shared by the Indian Army on a post on X.

In a special counter-terrorism operation earlier this month, three militants were killed and one soldier was injured under Operation Akhal. The total number of militants killed in Operation Akhal was six.

On August 2, security forces eliminated three militants in an encounter in the Akhal forest area. The operation was launched on August 1 after intelligence inputs indicated the presence of armed militants in the dense forest area.

A cordon and search operation was launched, which led to an encounter when the militants opened fire on the advancing troops. After the initial firing, the operation was suspended overnight and resumed the next morning, resulting in the killing of three more militants.

High-tech surveillance systems and elite paramilitary forces have been deployed in the operation. Officials have confirmed that the militants neutralized in the operation are affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy organisation of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
