'US is economically blackmailing India'; Tharoor criticizes Rahul Gandhi, calls it double standards

Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi is against the US action of imposing additional retaliatory tariffs on India. Rahul X wrote that this is economic blackmailing by the US on India and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's weakness should not affect the interests of the people of India.

Meanwhile, MP Shashi Tharoor said that the US is showing double standards towards India and India needs to find new trading partners. 'The US imports uranium, palladium, etc. from Russia. The Chinese import more Russian oil than us, but they have given the Chinese a 90-day break. We thought that the US is very friendly to our country. But what they did was not a friendly act. We need to learn a lesson from this experience,' Tharoor told the media.

Trump announced in his order that he had found that the Indian government is currently importing oil from Russia, directly or indirectly. The new tariffs will come into effect in 21 days. The move indicates that Trump's threat to punish countries that buy oil from Russia continues. However, Trump has said that he will reconsider the decision if they stop buying oil from Russia.
