2 million more people died from Covid in 2021 than reported! Center releases figures;

India's COVID-19 death toll rises by 20 lakh in 2021, official data based on Civil Registration System (CRS) released by Centre. According to the official report, the increase in deaths in 2021 was around 20 lakh. This is six times the official COVID-19 death toll of 3.3 lakh recorded earlier that year.
According to the figures released four years later, there was a 26.0% increase in the death toll from 2020 to 2021. Gujarat recorded 5809 deaths in 2021. The actual number of deaths was 1.95 lakh (1,95,406). This is 33 times more than the state's official figure, the data reveals.
Madhya Pradesh has 18 times more excess deaths than the official COVID toll and West Bengal has 15 times more excess deaths. Bihar, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh also have excess deaths that are 10 times higher than the official Covid toll. The data reveals that the smallest difference between the official Covid death toll for that year and the estimated excess deaths is in Kerala, Uttarakhand, Assam, Maharashtra and Delhi. This means that these five states have shared the actual figures.
In the Covid year 2021, India recorded about 25.8 lakh deaths compared to 2019, the last year before Covid. But not all deaths were due to Covid, but even so, there were 20 lakh more deaths recorded in the Covid year than in 2019.
