Director fined Rs 14,000 crore for sexual assault against over 40 women

A US court has sentenced Hollywood director and screenwriter James Toback to a fine of 1.4 billion dollars for sexually assaulting about 40 women. A New York jury has sentenced the 40 women who filed the lawsuit to pay 1.68 billion dollars (1.4 billion dollars) in damages.

The lawsuit against James Toback alleges that he sexually assaulted about 40 women over a 35-year period. In addition to sexual assault, Toback was also charged with wrongful confinement and psychological abuse. The lawsuit alleges that he forced women to have sex with him in exchange for a role in a movie.

Toback would force women to undress and masturbate in front of him, telling them it was part of his job. Toback would restrain women who tried to escape by refusing their demands and perform sexual acts. He would also touch the women's private parts over their resistance.

The complaint also states that he threatened to ruin his career if he complained. Toback is an Oscar-nominated screenwriter in 1991. However, Toback denied the allegations. Toback's explanation was that he was unable to have sex due to health reasons.
