Hamas has not announced a new leader to replace Yahya Sinwar due to the threat of assassination by Israel. Two people who had reached the leadership position within months of each other were killed by the Israeli army. This has put Hamas in a crisis. Yahya's brother Muhammad Sinwar, Khaliq al-Hayya, Muhammad al-Sahar, and Musa Abu Marzouk are among the prominent people being considered for the leadership of Hamas. However, they are not ready to take over the leadership position due to fear for their lives.

With this, Khaliq al-Hayya, who was Yahya Sinwar's deputy, is being considered to become the head of Hamas. Hayya lives in Qatar. He is a member of Hamas's political bureau in Qatar. He is also representing Hamas in the ongoing talks with Israel in Doha to end the war.

Hamas will no longer reveal the names of its next leaders, fearing Israel. The justification they give for this is security reasons. Hamas has not been able to announce a leader in a hurry. With this, Hamas said that the successor to Yahya Sinwar, who was killed in an Israeli attack, will be elected next March. Until then, a five-member committee will lead the organization. The council will include Khalil al-Hayya, Khaled Meshaal, Sahar Jabarin, Shura Council head Mohammed Darwish, and a special representative. The name of the special representative will not be revealed. Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the organization, was killed two months ago. Israel also killed his successor, Yahya Sinwar. Israel also killed Hamas' military chiefs, Mohammed Deif and Marwan Issa. Of the organization's founding leaders, only Khaled Meshaal and Mahmoud Sahar are currently alive in the leadership.
