Manipur's conflict deepens; After ending the election campaign, Amit Shah returned to Delhi
Tensions intensify in Manipur after bodies of children and women abducted by armed gangs are found. Protesters have already attacked the houses of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, ministers and MLAs. Houses of other members of LAs were demolished in various places.
Security forces fired tear gas at protesters who attacked Biren Singh's house. A state of extreme caution has been issued as the conflict continues. As the situation worsened, the central government intervened in the incident.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has returned to Delhi after postponing election campaigning in Maharashtra. The Home Minister returned to the capital to assess the situation in Manipur. Internet connectivity has been cut in seven districts of the state as the attacks escalated.
After the bodies of six people abducted by the armed group from the relief camp were found, the tensions in Manipur became heavy. The protestors are demanding justice for the victims. The bodies were found in Jimukh village of Jaribam district on the Manipur-Assam border.
