Polling in the state on April 9; Counting of votes on May 4; Election Commission announces election date; Kerala enters election heat

The Kerala Assembly elections will be held on April 9. Voting will be held in a single phase in Kerala. The counting of votes will be held on May 4. As Kerala heads to the polling booths, the total number of voters in the state after SIR is 2.70 crore. Of these, 1571 voters are above the age of 100, said Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Gazette notification on March 16. The last date for filing nominations is March 23. Scrutiny of nominations will be held on March 24. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 26. There are only 24 days left for campaigning in Kerala.

There will be 30471 polling stations in Kerala. This time, 4.24 lakh maiden voters are preparing to exercise their right to vote for the first time. The Election Commission informed in a press conference that 1.38 crore women voters and 1.82 crore men voters are on the list. The model code of conduct has come into effect. Webcasting will be ensured in all polling stations. Information will be available on the ECINET app.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that the Commission visited the states where elections are to be held and assessed the preparations. During the visit, he met all the political parties and accepted their suggestions. He added that he also met with District Electoral Officers, SPs, IGs, DIGs etc.

By-elections to 8 assembly constituencies in various states will also be held simultaneously. Puducherry and Assam elections will be held along with Kerala.
