Major fire breaks out at government medical college in Odisha; 10 patients burnt to death

A fire broke out at a government medical college in Odisha, killing 10 patients. The fire broke out in the ICU of SCB Medical College in Kadak, Odisha. 11 hospital staff were injured in the accident. The fire broke out between 2:30 and 3 am today.

Several fire engines immediately reached the spot and carried out rescue operations, but ten patients could not be saved. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that the hospital staff was injured while rescuing the patients.

SCB Hospital is an important government medical college in Odisha. Immediately after the incident, the Odisha Chief Minister along with Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling visited the hospital and assessed the situation. The government has announced an assistance of Rs 25 lakh to the families of the deceased.
