SFI activists beat him up, 'made him drink spit water and beat him with a belt for an hour'; Student reveals about ragging on Karyavattom campus

A student has revealed about the ragging at Karyavattom Government College in Thiruvananthapuram. The student said that the SFI activists, seniors on the campus, beat him up. The student said that he was taken to the unit room and made to kneel down, and that seven or eight people beat him up with belts for about an hour.

Biotechnology first-year student Bins Jose filed a complaint with the principal and the Kazhakoottam police. The anti-ragging committee that investigated the incident confirmed that ragging had taken place. The complaint is against seven third-year undergraduate students.

The complaint states that seven senior students, including Velu, Prince, Ananthan, Parthan, Alan, Shravan and Salman, committed the ragging. The committee found that the ragging had taken place after examining the CCTV footage and witness statements. On the 11th, a fight had broken out between senior and junior students.

Bins Jose's friend Abhishek was injured in the beating by the senior students. The Kazhakoottam police registered a case on the complaint of both groups. The complaint is that the senior students who came looking for Abhishek took Bins to the unit room and beat him up in a group. The Kazhakoottam police said that a case will be registered for ragging based on the principal's report.
