Three people, including a Malayali, arrested in Visakhapatnam spy case

Three more people, including a Malayali, have been arrested in the Visakhapatnam spy case. The NIA team arrested Malayali PA Abhilash from Kochi. Vedan Laxman Tandel and Akshay Ravi Naik were also arrested from Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka.

The action is in the case of leaking secret information including naval defense information. With this, the total number of people arrested has reached eight. The NIA has found that the arrested people were in contact with the Pakistani spy organization through social media. The NIA investigation also found that the three arrested people had handed over important information to the Karwar Naval Headquarters and the Kochi Naval Headquarters and received money for it.

The case is that important information of the Navy was handed over to the Pakistani spy organization. Five people were arrested earlier in the case.

The case, registered by the Counter Intelligence Cell of Andhra Pradesh in January 2021, was taken over by the NIA in June 2023. A chargesheet was filed against 5 people, including 2 Pakistani nationals who had gone into hiding. Pakistani national Mir Balaj Khan and arrested Akash Solanki were active in the espionage racket. The names of another PIO who had gone into hiding, Alven, Manmohan Surendra Panda and Aman Salim Sheikh are also included in the chargesheet.
