Two Thai Women Arrested for Smuggling 27.08 Kg Ganja at IGI Airport

The Customs Officers at IGI Airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling of a green-colored NDPS substance suspected to be Ganja/Marijuana. The contraband was packed in fifty-four (54) polythene packets and concealed in four trolley bags. This was detected by the Flight Rummaging Unit (FRU) against two Thai female passengers who arrived at Terminal-3, IGI Airport, New Delhi, on flight no. AI377 from Phuket on 19th February 2025. The passengers were diverted at the Green Channel for an X-ray baggage search, where customs officers on duty flagged their trolley bags. Upon detailed examination, the officers found 54 packets of green-colored narcotics suspected to be Ganja/Marijuana, with a total net weight of 27,083 grams (27.08 kg). Diagnostic tests confirmed the suspicion, and the value of the seized substance is approximately ₹27.09 crores. The passengers have been booked under Section 8, 20, 23, and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. They have been placed under arrest under Section 43(B) of the NDPS Act on 21st February 2025. The seized contraband, along with its packaging material, has been confiscated under Section 43(A) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
