UDF to support G. Sudhakaran in Ambalapuzha; Congress will not field candidate

UDF will support former minister G. Sudhakaran, who is contesting as an independent in Ambalapuzha constituency after leaving CPM. It is reported that the Congress leadership has decided not to field a candidate in Ambalapuzha. The official decision will be announced by the Congress soon.

The LDF had announced its candidate in the constituency yesterday. Sitting MLA H. Salam is the LDF candidate. The Congress decided to support Sudhakaran after holding discussions with its allies. Congress leaders will meet Sudhakaran soon and express their support.

Sudhakaran also said that he would be happy if Pinarayi becomes the Chief Minister for the third time. In the context of Sudhakaran's remarks, some Congress leaders expressed reluctance to support him and district leaders expressed their anger to K.P.C.C. and AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal. However, the message received from the leadership was that the issue should not be escalated based on this remark.
