ICAI Ernakulam to Host One-Day Seminar on Bank Branch Audit on March 18

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the statutory body regulating the profession of Chartered Accountancy in India, will organize a One-Day Seminar on Bank Branch Audit on March 18, 2026 (Wednesday) at the Gokulam Convention Centre.

The seminar is being organized by the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AASB) of ICAI and hosted by the Ernakulam Branch of SIRC of ICAI in Ernakulam. The event will conducted from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will offer 6 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit for participating Chartered Accountants.

Focus on Emerging Audit Challenges

The seminar aims to equip professionals with updated knowledge on bank branch audits, particularly in the context of new regulatory frameworks and emerging technological tools used in auditing. The event will feature sessions led by prominent experts in the field of auditing and banking. 

Leadership Presence and Expert Guidance

The event will feature prominent leaders and experts from the auditing profession, including: CA. Sripriya Kumar, Chairperson, AASB, ICAI , CA. Ravi Kumar Patwa, Vice-Chairman, AASB, ICAI, CA. Babu Abraham Kallivayalil, Chairman, Board of Studies (Academic) and Member, AASB and CA. Deepa Varghese, Treasurer, SIRC of ICAI. 

Their presence reflects the significance of the seminar and ICAI’s commitment to strengthening professional knowledge across the auditing community.

Insightful Technical Sessions

The seminar will feature three specialized technical sessions addressing key aspects of bank branch auditing.

Session I: Identifying Red Flag Accounts in Banks : The first session will focus on detecting suspicious financial patterns and identifying early warning signals in bank accounts. The session will be led by CA. V. Ravindran from Salem, who will share practical strategies used by auditors to detect financial irregularities.

Session II: Bridging Intuition and Innovation in Bank Branch Audits : In today’s digital world, auditors increasingly rely on technology and artificial intelligence. This session, conducted by CA. A. Gopalakrishnan from Ernakulam, will explore how domain knowledge, experience, and AI-driven tools can work together to improve audit efficiency and accuracy.

Session III: LFAR – Credit Appraisal, Monitoring and Large Advances : The final technical session will address the complexities of Long Form Audit Reports (LFAR) and the auditing of credit appraisal systems and large advances. The session will be handled by CA. Rishikesh A Joshi from Mumbai, a specialist in bank audit practices.

Registration and Participation

As  New the Annual Registration Scheme (ARS) 2026–2027 of ICAI will apply from March 1, 2026 onward, members who registered in this scheme will have free entry (Ernakulam ARS Members (2026–2027): Free entry) and Other participants:1500 + 18% GST (₹1770).
