The body of VS Achuthanandan, the most senior communist leader and former Chief Minister of India, will be taken from his house in Kavadiyar to the Durbar Hall at 9 am. After the public viewing, it will be taken to his house in Punnapra, Alappuzha in the afternoon on the national highway. It will be kept inside the fence at the house in Alappuzha for public viewing.

Then, the public viewing will be held at the district committee office in Alappuzha on Wednesday morning. After the public viewing at the Alappuzha Police Recreation Ground, he will be cremated in the Valiya Chudukattil in the evening. A public holiday has been declared in the state today as a mark of respect for VS.

Traffic restrictions have been imposed in Thiruvananthapuram city today in connection with the public viewing and mourning procession of VS Achuthanandan. The restrictions will be imposed from 7 am. The police announced in a press release that vehicular traffic will not be allowed towards the Secretariat area.

VS Achuthanandan passed away at 3.20 pm yesterday. VS, who was admitted to the intensive care unit of SUT Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram following a heart attack, was later unable to return to normal. VS's treatment continued with the help of a ventilator and he passed away. VS was 101 years old at the time of his death. VS Achuthanandan was the most popular Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition in Kerala.
