'There are doubts about the basic reasons behind the resignation, but we will not go into speculation'; Jairam Ramesh on the unexpected resignation of the Vice President

Congress leaders have reacted to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's unexpected resignation announcement. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said he believes there may be more behind his unexpected resignation than meets the eye.

Expressing shock at the sudden development, Jairam Ramesh said he was with Dhankhar yesterday and had a conversation with him just before the announcement. While Dhankhar's health needs to be given priority, Jairam Ramesh said he has doubts about the underlying reasons behind the resignation. ”

There is no doubt that Mr Dhankhar needs to prioritize his health. But there is more to his unexpected resignation than meets the eye. However, Ramesh cautioned against any speculation at this stage and stressed the need for clarity and transparency.

Personally, I did not feel well, said Congress leader Kapil Sibal. I had a very good relationship with him. There was no animosity. He spoke his mind and did not keep it in his heart. Even though our ideologies did not match, he never kept it in his heart. When I wanted more time to speak in the Rajya Sabha, he would have given me more time, Sibal told reporters.

The resignation announcement, made on the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament, was made on health grounds. He shared his resignation letter on social media on X. He said that he was resigning on medical advice and that he was stepping down with pride. The resignation letter was addressed to President Draupadi Murmu Given.

He was previously the Governor of West Bengal. He took office as the Vice President in August 2022. He had a term as the Vice President till 2027. But his resignation was announced before the completion of three years. He was notable for his interventions that caused a lot of criticism and controversy.
