Malayalam Actress Kaviyoor Ponnamma passed away; The mother face of Malayalam cinema
Actress Kaviyoor Ponnamma, who filled Malayalam cinema for six decades, passed away. He was 79 years old. He died in a private hospital in Kochi while he was in Chi Kitsa due to old age related ailments. Ponnamma has acted in more than 700 films, proving that she is an irreplaceable actress in the role of mother. Kaviyoor Ponnamma came to her residence in Karimalur in North Paravur along with her elder brother and family.
Bindu, the only daughter, is in America. Her husband Maniswamy was a film producer. She is the sister of Kaviyur Renuka Ponnamma, who was a famous theater and film actress who passed away
Kaviyoor Ponnamma won the State Film Award for Best Supporting Actress four times (1971, 1972, 1973, 1994). Born on September 10, 1945 in the village of Kaviyoor in Pathanamthitta district. Childhood was a whirlwind. Later came to Changanassery to study music.
At the age of 14, she entered the art scene as a singer in the plays of Pratibha Arts, a leading theater company. Entered the theater scene with KPAC's play Kapital. He considered Thopil Bhasi as his acting guru.
In 1962, he appeared in front of the camera for the first time in the film Sri Rama Pattabhishekam. In 1965, she acted as Sathyan and Madhu's mother in Thomman's sons. In 1965, Sathyan became the heroine in "Odayil Ninnu".
In 1973, Thilakan acted as a son in the film "Periyar" and later gained attention as Kaviyoor Ponnamma's husband as the best couple. She played the role of Savitri in the film "Nellu"(1974).
The famous drama songs Pookaara Pootharumo and Vellilam Kattilolichi Chulukuvan were also born in the sweet voice of Kaviyoor Ponnamma.
Although Kaviyoor Ponnamma has played the role of mother of most prominent actors in Malayalam cinema, Mohanlal's role as mother is the most noted.
