State Government Embarrassed as 'Own VC' Attends RSS Event Along with Three Other Vice Chancellors
A major political controversy brews as the state-appointed Vice Chancellor joins an RSS conference, accompanied by three other VCs from the state. The incident raises questions on academic neutrality and political affiliations.

The government is strongly against the participation of the VCs of the state's universities in the 'Gyansabha' of the RSS-friendly Shiksha Sanskruti Utthan Nyas. In addition to the VCs of Kerala, Calicut and Kannur universities appointed by the governor, the government's own VC of the University of Fisheries (KUFOS) also reached the RSS stage.
The Congress is preparing to use the participation of KUFOS VC Dr. A Bijukumar as a weapon. KUFOS VC is a government nominee. Bijukumar is a member of the CPM organization Federation of University Teachers Association (FUTA). The previous stance of the Higher Education Minister that VCs can take decisions individually has also backfired. The participation of the KUFOS VC has left the Left organizations confused as they could not protest against other VCs.
4 university VCs of the state participated in the National Education Summit organized by the RSS. Kerala VC Dr. Mohanan Kunnummel, Calicut VC Dr. P Raveendran and Kannur VC Dr. KK Saju are the other prominent people who attended the Gnanasabha. The government had expected them to attend. Overcoming the opposition of the CPM, the 4 people who came as the governor's nominees attended the program.
Meanwhile, the government cannot take action except to deny the participation of the VCs in the Gnanasabha. RSS is not a banned organization. Moreover, the presence of the VCs in an event where the Governor, who is also the Chancellor, is also participating cannot be technically questioned. It is reported that several university VCs in the country will participate in the event attended by RSS Sanghachalak Mohan Bhagwat.
