The police have registered a case against former BJP president K. Annamalai and Hindu Munnani leaders for allegedly inciting communal hatred at a Muruga Bhakta conference held in Tamil Nadu. The action is based on a speech he made at a Muruga Bhakta conference held in Madurai on June 22. The court was approached by a lawyer named Vanchinathan.

Earlier, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan had also filed a police complaint against former BJP state president Annamalai. An organization called Madurai Social Harmony Group filed a complaint with the Madurai City Police Commissioner.

The speeches of both of them are in violation of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complaint also demanded action against them for inciting violence, promoting religious hatred, and spreading statements that incite violence.
