CASA | Reportedly preparing to form a political party; hints at joining NDA

Christian organization CASA (Christian Association and Alliance for Social Action) is reportedly preparing to form a political party. One of the founders of CASA, Kevin, said that the attempt is to form a party that will work in collaboration with the BJP.

CASA was formed in 2018 by six people including the state minister. It was registered as a society in 2019. CASA also claims to have the support of 17 Christian groups in Kerala. CASA, which is facing allegations of being an organization spreading Islamophobia, has taken a pro-BJP stance on various issues including the Citizenship Amendment Act, love jihad, and triple talaq.

Kevin Peter says he is a victim of love jihad. His only daughter left home in 2016 to marry a Muslim man. Kevin Peter says he has not heard anything from his daughter since then.

‘The attempt is to form a right-wing national party. We had conducted studies to see if such a political party would be accepted. The studies have shown that such a party has potential,’ said Kevin Peter.

CASA also assesses that the importance of the Kerala Congress party has been lost. The Kerala Congress is currently weak. Its future is not promising. Kevin said he does not think that the Kerala Congress will regain its former glory.

According to the current understanding, CASA will continue to be an independent organization. But the new party will stand apart from this. In the upcoming local elections, CASA will support those who stand for nationalism. They can be independents or candidates of political parties. If they take a stand supporting nationalism, CASA will take a favorable approach to them. Kevin Peter said that they are planning to form a political party before the assembly elections to be held in 2026.

CASA has committees in 120 constituencies in the state. Kevin says that there are a total of 22,000 members. Most of them are in central Kerala and the Malabar region. A comprehensive plan will be formulated before the upcoming assembly elections. The report quotes another CASA representative as saying that since the committees are based on constituencies, it will not take long for these committees to function as political parties once a political party is formed.
